On Volunteer Day, First Lady Olena Zelenska visited the "Berehyny from Irpin" workshop, where female volunteers weave protective nets for Ukrainian servicemen. She stopped by to extend her holiday greetings to the volunteers. Olena Zelenska acknowledged the important work of the women and men who weave these nets. “Almost every city and town in Ukraine—and even abroad—now has similar volunteer workshops. So if you haven’t visited one yet, I highly recommend finding the nearest one, lending a hand, and thus celebrating Volunteer Day. Perhaps the meters of safety you create might save someone’s life on the front,” she said. Mrs. Zelenska personally met many of the volunteer Berehyny and shared their impressive stories on her social media. The First Lady noted that “after all the hardships and personal trials, these women find the strength several times a week—without pay (often even after work)—to create protection for our servicemen, literally weaving safety for them.”
